1. Use Audience Reaction Shots

This is one of my favorite techniques, as it works in all types of infomercials. If you want people to get excited about your product, have them react with excitement on camera! This shows customers what others who have already bought your product love about it. Audience reaction shots create a sense of community and belonging among viewers that makes them want to join in. Use audience reaction shots for any demo video or if you want buyers to feel like they’re part of a club—instead of just sitting there watching, they’ll actually feel like they’re involved in a group.

2. Show the Product in Real Life

Nearly all infomercials show customers, not actors, using and enjoying their products. People in infomercials do everything from sitting on the sand by a pool to preparing for a big presentation at work; tossing the salad with friends on a patio after work; mowing lawns in baseball hats that keep flies out of their eyes; from pull weeds around plants, they just planted. If you sell anything, have real people use your product/service and show them enjoying it. The more fun people have with what you sell, the more likely they are to buy it!

3. Use a Simple Shot to Create Interest

A simple shot of your product or something associated with it can be used to get customers interested in what you’re selling. For example, if you’re selling office supplies, a quick shot of an office desk might grab their attention. If you sell makeup, a quick shot of a woman applying lipstick could do the trick. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy—as long as it gets them thinking about how they might use your product and why they should buy from you. And remember: always include the text so people know exactly what they are looking at and don’t have to guess!

4. Show All Parts of the Product

First things first, if you want to sell anything on television you need a product. I mean, if you don’t have something physical (or digital) for customers to buy then there’s no way for them to transact with you and close your sale. That said, one of my favorite infomercial strategies is showing customers all parts of a product before diving into its features or benefits. It helps people visualize what they are buying and gives them that good old curb appeal which is perfect for boosting sales.

5. Create Urgency

Ever wonder why stores advertise a limited quantity of a particular item? It’s because they want you to believe that there are only so many available, and they’re all going fast. Make sure your potential customers know that items are limited by creating urgency in your copy. For example, a limited-time offer or only 5 left in stock will let people know that if they don’t buy now, they’ll miss out on something great. Another way to create urgency is through scarcity—if an item is scarce (or about to be), it’s more likely to be perceived as valuable.

6. Give Clear Directions

Don’t leave your reader guessing what you want them to do next. Tell them with clear, specific language exactly what they should do. If you don’t give specific directions, it’s up to your reader to imagine their own way of doing things and make their own assumptions. Don’t make them guess; spell out exactly what needs to be done for optimum success. If you have a template or guide for your readers that makes doing something even easier than usual, include a link!

7. Add Some Humor

Using humor in a sales or marketing message can help boost appeal, cut through the clutter and make you more memorable.
